NFSI Certifies Three Washroom Solutions from Impact Products

The National Floor Safety Institute (NFSI) has issued 3 certifications to products from Impact. Certifications from the NFSI are part of a third-party testing process to ensure the highest levels of ‘wet slip’ resistance. Their website ( claims “The NFSI has spent more than fifteen years researching various test methods by which materials can be evaluated for their degree of slip resistance, which has resulted in the most comprehensive evaluation process to date.”

Two certifications are for the newly designed urinal and hand dryer press-on disposable mats. These mats are highly absorbent and able to be wet-mopped without removing from the floor – and are part of the larger ‘Barricade’ system that focuses on improving guest experience in the washroom through prevention, fragrance and compliance.

The third certification was for the Mopster bucketless mopping system. Its innovative design and range of microfiber flat mops allow for both the operator and guests better control of the mopping solution and area served. Adding in cautionary floor signage like the innovative pop-up cone is essential to the safety of everyone.

When asked how crucial NFSI product certification is to customers, Jeff Gayer, Vice President of Product Development said, "Impact Products is committed to providing our distributors Easier/Safer/Better third party independently tested products that meet stringent NFSI and ANSI standards to promote a positive guest and employee experience. By doing so, we can affect customer loyalty in consumer facing businesses by up to 33%."

Impact Products Mourns Passing of Founder James R. Findlay

Eighty-seven-year-old janitorial and sanitary maintenance industry veteran and local philanthropist succumbs to cancer.

Entrepreneur, philanthropist and retired founder of Impact Products LLC, a Toledo-based manufacturer and supplier of janitorial and sanitation maintenance (jan/san) products, James R. Findlay passed away today, leaving a long legacy of business accomplishments and community service.

“I know I speak for the Toledo community when I say Jim will be missed,” said Terry Neal, president and CEO of Impact Products LLC. “He was an exceptional human being as well as a respected business leader.“

Jim established integrity as a core value throughout the organization,” Neal continued. “His legacy lives on in the culture he created for all of his employees, from the plant workers to the executive suite. He led by example, with a helpful, caring attitude; he encouraged teamwork and fostered the ‘customer first’ mentality that continues today.”

Findlay founded Impact Products in 1963. He sold the company to the employees in 1987 via an employee stock ownership program (ESOP). He also established a first-of-its kind 401(k) plan for Impact Products’ manufacturers’ representatives.

Highly recognized in the jan/san industry, in 2002 Findlay was awarded the Manufacturer Representative Distinguished Service Award by the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA).

In September, 2013, on the House Floor in Washington, D.C., Marcy Kaptur, (D) U.S. Representative for District 9 of the state of Ohio, paid tribute to Jim Findlay. “The company’s name, Impact, is a testament to the impact one person can selflessly make on the lives of so many,” Kaptur said.

Kaptur lauded Findlay for his successful entrepreneurial endeavors and devotion to family and employees, calling him “a remarkable American.”

Visitation will be at Walker Funeral Home on West Sylvania Avenue in Toledo, Ohio on Saturday 26, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be held at Glenwood Lutheran Church on Monroe Street in Toledo, Ohio at 3:00 PM Sunday October 27, 2013. Immediately following the service, the Findlay family invites all to a reception at Savage Hall on the Campus of The University of Toledo.

Impact Founder Honored on U.S. House Floor

We thought you would enjoy seeing this remarkable tribute to our founder Jim Findlay. What you may not know is that Marcy Kaptur and Jim Findlay are long time business colleague's, dating back to the 80's. Jim's involvement and philanthropy in the community spurred a longtime collaboration and friendship with 9th District U.S. House of Representative - Marcy Kaptur. Jim Findlay built a wonderful team and an enduring corporate culture of serving customers. The tradition of "customer centric" thinking continues today with the thoughtful guidance of Terry Neal.
